New 2017 Jeep Cherokee at Dublin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Macon, GA

The Jeep Cherokee has room for five passengers and has new features to debut in 2017, like high-intensity discharge headlamps as standard (minus the Sport trim), and two available Overland Packages surfacing later in the year. On the Overland model, a Zebrano steering wheel with high-gloss and a wood-trim is installed as a new item, and in addition, the Overland has distinct floor mats as well as an Alpine audio system as standard. The Trailhawk model has front Nappa-leather heated seats, a remote start system, a universal garage door opener, a power liftgate, Keyless Enter 'n Go, a premium heated steering wheel, a power 8-way driver seat, and a bunch more to explore.

Under the Cherokee's Hood

A 9-speed automatic is the standard issue within the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. It can either be a front-wheel or four-wheel drive version for you to select, and different drivers will want the choice, depending on what they intend to use it for. The exception to this is the Trailhawk trim, which is 4WD only on purpose. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder TigerShark Multiair2 that is rated at 184 horsepower and sees 171 pound-feet of torque is what drivers will find as the standard engine. A front-wheel drive Cherokee with the 2.4-liter engine is rated by the EPA at 25 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway). Building on all of this, for most trims, is that a Pentastar 3.2-liter V6 with VVT that achieves 271-horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque is available. The V6 towing package garners a strong a 4,500-pound towing capacity, something to certainly consider if you have the means. The V6 engine, in the front-wheel drive version, is estimated at 24 mpg combined (21 city/29 highway). There exists a triple threat of system possibilities for the 4-wheel drive, to further add a valuable capability to the Jeep Cherokee: the Jeep Active Drive Lock, the Active Drive I system, or the Active Drive II system.

Design of Jeep Cherokee

Jeep likes to offer seemingly endless modification and configuration possibilities as a part of its brand, and that also extends to its trims with their special editions, limited-runs, and custom-designed trims. Staying centered around the trims that crossover SUV Jeep Cherokee owners will most likely see, and they are the Overland, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and the Sport trims. There are 3 'Special Edition' trims of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee as well: the Altitude, High Altitude, and the 75th Anniversary Edition. The Limited trim gains standard alloy wheels 18 inches in diameter, keyless entry/ignition, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Sport trim has remote keyless entry, sliding and reclining rear seats with 60/40-split folding seatbacks, an auxiliary input, Bluetooth, 17-inch steel wheels, an SD card reader, and then some. The Trailhawk has quite a lot of features too, like hill ascent and descent control, an expansive driver info display with color graphics, skid plates, all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, tow hooks, increased ground clearance, wider 17-inch wheels, satellite radio and 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface. The fog-light-rocking Latitude puts in a rearview camera, light alloy wheels, automatic xenon headlights, roof rails, LED interior lighting, and an 115-volt outlet. The Overland model brings a lot to the lineup with a nine-speaker audio system (including a subwoofer), acoustic sound-deadening changes on the windshield and the front windows, a passenger seat that is power-adjustable (with 4-way power lumbar), and a power liftgate.
